The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one movie I know young and old will watch. I have seen many teens and people in there twenties go nuts over this film. It was produced 1993 as a stop motion film, directed by Henry Selick. Tim Burton is the co-writer and producer of the film. If you don’t know who Tim Burton is than you are in for a twisted world of fun. Tim Burton has done Beetlejuice, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure and many more. The film was released under Touchstone Pictures, a Disney owned company. And later re-released under Disney in later years. The reason for this is that they thought it too Nightmarish for Disney movie watchers. Tim Burton is know for his wild and crazy movies. He is in his own dark and twisted world with these movies. But there are great to watch when you love his style of work. Nightmare is a holiday favorite, does not matter if you watch it for Halloween or Christmas it wonderful for both.

Halloween Town is celebrating another successfully horrifyingly scary Halloween. It of course begins with a song introducing the Pumpkin King Jack Skellington. After the song has ended Jack goes off toward his mansion on the hill. He seems sad and says he wants something different not the same old thing. He ends up going past his house to the woods where he goes through the graveyard to get his ghost dog Zero. Where not known to him Sara the rag doll is watching him from behind a grave stone. She is a creation of the mad scientist in the wheelchair and she is always trying to get away from him, because she hates not being able to do things. Jack keeps walking leaving the graveyard behind and ends up in the woods. He has walked for hours before he reaches a clearing in the trees. It is a ring of magical trees that have doors the shape of holidays, Halloween Town being one of them. But what gets his interest is the door shaped like a Christmas tree. He ends up wanting to take over Christmas, but all goes haywire.

It has the voices of Chris Sarandon, Catherine O’Hara, William Hickey, Ken Page and Glen Shadix. Vincent a short film is also included on the DVD, also a few other goodies. Buy the movie to see what happens when Halloween tries to take over Christmas. You will not be disappointed.
